Manjeet As Pink Panthers Captain: Pro Kabaddi League Season 5:
The fifth season of pro kabaddi league is going to start on 28 July and preparations are underway in the team camps. The champions of the first season, Jaipur pink panthers, have made some stunning buys in the auction, including Manjeet Chillar, who has been confirmed as the captain of Jaipur Pink Panthers. The news was confirmed by their coach Balwan Singh. Manjeet was a member of the World Cup-winning team in Ahmedabad last year. The Pink Panthers are owned by Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan and are managed by GS Entertainment Worldwide was representing the pink city Jaipur.
Jaipur Pink Panthers were the champions of the first edition of pro kabaddi league winning 10 of their 14 matches and subsequently defeating U Mumba in the final. However, they failed to qualify for the playoffs in the next two seasons i.e season 2 and 3. In the last season, they reached the final but lost to the Patna Pirates.
Before the auctions start, the existing teams were allowed to keep their one player each and the Jaipur Pink Panther were the only one who prefers not to retain any player. On day 1, of the auction, they made a sensation by signing Manjeet Chillar services for INR 75.50 lakhs.
They also pick raider Jasvir Singh at a bargain price of Rs 51 lakhs, making him just one out of four players to play for the same team across the five seasons. The squad also boasts of two other well-experienced players, Navneet Gautam, who was the captain in their first season and defender Somvir Shekhar, who has played for Patna Pirates, Bengaluru Bulls and Puneri Paltan.
