            Pro Kabaddi League’s 12 franchises spent a total of Rs46.9 crore for 277 players


After four successful season, the fifth edition of pro kabaddi league is just two weeks away. And after picking up the the best players in the auctions, all the 12 teams are ready for the upcoming challenge.







The biggest spenders in the player auction for the fifth edition of the pro kabaddi league is second season winner team u mumba’s owners Ronnie Screwvala. He spend a totoal of Rs 3.98 crore for nine players at the end of the two day auction process of pro kabaddi league.

All the 12 franchise of pro kabaddi league spent an total amount of Rs 46.9 crore for 277 players in the auction process. The first of the two day auction process concluded at an amount of Rs 27.27 crore for 60 players. 

Star raiders Nitin Tomar, Rohit Kumar and all- rounder Manjeet Chillar were the most expensive purchase in the auction, picked by Team UP, Bengaluru Bulls and Jaipur Pink Panthers,respectively. Raider Jang Kun Lee, becomes the highest valued international player of pro kabaddi league season 5 after he was retained by the Bengal Warriors for Rs 80.3 lakhs.

Anupam Goswami, Pro Kabaddi league commissioner,  said, “With 4 new teams coming on board, we embarked upon a new journey with the biggest Kabaddi auction in history. Nitin Tomar going for an unprecedented Rs93 lakh is a testament to this enormous scale.” 


Further, the four new franchise named, JSW Group, Adani Group, GMR Group, and a partnership of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and serial entrepreneur N. Prasad were announced as the four new owners of the teams Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, respectively.

U Mumba, the winner of second season and 2 times runner up of the league brought all rounder Kuldeep Singh at Rs 51.5 lakh, its most priority purchase. 

The most expensive purchase for actor Abhishek Bachchan’s team Jaipur Pink Panthers included Manjeet Chillar and Selavamani K. for Rs75.5 lakh and Rs73 lakh, respectively. The matches of pro kabaddi league season 5 will be kickstart from 28 july.
