The new season of pro kabaddi league season 5 is going to be start from 28 July and is sure to be truly bigger and grander than ever. It will feature a total of 12 teams The teams have been divided into two zones of six each, they will face off in nearly 140 matches across 11 states in India over a period of three months.
The player auctions of pro kabaddi league were held in the month of May, in which all the 12 teams build their squads for the tournament ahead. Out of those, the eight old teams were allowed to retain one player each.
Two times winning champions of pro kabaddi league, Patna Pirates choose to retain their star raider Pardeep Narwal known as dubki king for the upcoming season of PKL.
The team from Patna, named Patna Pirates after a lot of deliberation, have opted to select Pardeep Narwal for the role of the captain. It will be interesting to see how the young raider will fare in this new role and whether he will be able to balance the responsibility of a captain. Former U Mumba man and star defender Vishal Mane will be his deputy.
On this decision Patna Pirates team manager explained "He showed some great leadership qualities in the nationals," when asked about why the youngster was chosen. He added, "Another reason was that he is a huge fan favourite, which was also another major factor for us."
The team Patna Pirates have a strong squad for this season of pro kabaddi league. Along with Pardeep, the raiders of Patna Pirates include Monu Goyat who was bought for rs 44.50 lakh at the auction of pro kabaddi league.
For the defence side team Patna Pirates have two strong man from Maharashtra, Vishal Mane the former U Mumba player and Sachin Shingade. Patna Pirates also sign the services of defender Jaideep for the upcoming season of pro kabaddi league.
